Niel DeVasto has been named Sports Information Director at Webster University. He will be the first full-time dedicated SID in the program's 25-year history. DeVasto played a key role in creating athletics at Webster, first submitting the original proposal for the program in 1984 and serving as AD from 1984-88. During his term as AD, DeVasto oversaw the admission of the Gorloks into the NCAA.
DeVasto has continually served the University in their Undergraduate Admissions Office for the past 29 years, the last 13 as Director. While in admissions he had a hand in marketing, publications, and copy work, and will bring that experience to this position. DeVasto also served four years as United Way Co-Chairman for the University and 10 years on the executive board of the Missouri Association for College Admission Counseling (MOACAC), including four as treasurer.
He and his wife Ellen have three children, Dominic, who played midfield for the Gorloks as a freshmen last fall, Daniel, a sophomore JV/varsity tennis player at Vianney High School, and Erin, a three-sport athlete as a freshman at Bishop DuBourg High School this past year.
