The Webster University women 's tennis team will play its first-ever NCAA III Tournament match vs. Grove City College (PA), on May 13 at the University of Chicago.
The Gorloks gained the NCAA berth with their win in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship on April 24. Webster sports an 11-4 record, one win shy of the team best 12 wins in the 2009 season. Webster will enter first round play coming off a 19-day layoff.
Grove City College is a private college with an enrollment of 2500 students, located 65 miles north of Pittsburgh. The Wolverines, who had a 14-5 record on the year, play in the 10-team Presiden'ts Athletic Conference.
The Gorloks will bring some gaudy individual win/loss records to Chicago.
Allison Tungate (SO, Flora HS, IL) will enter the match with a 14-1 singles record and a 13-match win streak.
Paige Tungate (SO, Flora HS, IL) is 13-2 with an 11-match streak. Freshman
Lindsey Hays (Francis Howell HS, STL) is 15-2 in singles and 16-3 in doubles, while
Mindy Tabakin (SO, First Colonial HS, VA) is 12-4 and 11-3, respectively.
