Will Savage (SR, Benet Academy, IL) was named to the 2010 Rawlings/ABCA All-American First Team as a pitcher. Savage becomes the first Webster University men's baseball player to be chosen to the first team, and just the third in the program's history to be named an All-American.
Savage had a record-breaking season for the Gorloks, recording the lowest ERA (1.52), tying for most wins (9), and finishing with the second highest strikeout total (72). Savage, along with teammate
Victor Valdez (SR, Benet Academy, IL), was named last week to the 2010 Rawlings/ABCA All-Central First Team.
Former Webster players Alex Raetzloff and Brett Mueller are the only other Gorloks previously named Rawlings/ABCA All-Americans. They were both selected to the Third Team in 2008.
Fellow St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference player, Stefan Neece of Greenville College, was also selected as a First Team All-American at first base. This gave the SLIAC two of the 15 first team spots awarded nationally.
