The Webster University men's basketball team had seven members named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) 2009-2010 'Honors Court,' which recognized players who excelled in academics this past year. The total of seven players tied Webster for the second highest number named for any one college in the U.S.
Those Webster student/athletes honored were:
Brad Cookson, junior, Education
Nick Jones, junior, Business Administration
Robby Meeh, junior, Business Administration
John Ortwerth, senior, Finance
Scott Restoff, junior, Accounting
Jerry Strickland, junior, Management
Mat Trippett, junior, Mathematics
Eligibility for the NABC award includes a student being a junior or senior academically, and a member of the varsity. Candidates must also have a 3.2 or higher grade point average at the conclusion of the award year and have attended their institution for at least one- year.
Webster had the highest number of awardees for any of the five St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference members who had students honored. The men's basketball team is coached by Chris Bunch.
