The Webster University women's volleyball team has been picked as the pre-season favorite for 2010 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference coaches poll. The Gorloks won a third straight SLIAC regular season championship and a fourth straight conference tournament in 2009. The Gorloks completed a perfect 16-0 SLIAC record for the second straight year, and ended the season with a 38-game conference win streak.
Webster returns 13 players this season and leading the squad will be seniors Sarah Bailey and Mary Jo Schweitzer, both of whom were named Honorable Mention SLIAC All-Conference last season. Bailey is a defensive specialist and averaged 4.29 digs per set in 2009. She also recorded 21 service aces. Schweitzer, an outside hitter, had a team-high 38 service aces last year, while also averaging 1.51 kills and 2.90 digs per set.
