The Webster University softball team swept the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors for March 26-April 1. Trisha Thompson and Taylor Gibbs played large roles in the Gorloks winning three of four games this past week.
SOFTBALL - PITCHER
Thompson, a sophomore from Xavier Prep HS (AZ), has been named the Softball Pitcher of the Week. Thompson threw a complete game no-hitter, the first for Webster since 2007, with a 1-0 victory versus Westminster College (Mo.). In 7.0 complete innings of work she recorded six strikeouts and allowed only two walks. Thompson also posted a 11-2 win over Eureka College, with six strikeouts, five hits and one earned run in 6.0 innings on the mound.
SOFTBALL - HITTER
Gibbs, a freshman from Alton HS (IL), has been named the Softball Hitter of the Week. Gibbs helped the Gorloks to a 1-0 victory versus Westminster College by driving in the lone run with a single in the fifth inning. In a Webster 11-2 win at Eureka College, Gibbs was in the middle of all three Gorlok scoring rallies. She homered in a three-run third, doubled in a six-run fourth and doubled in a two-run sixth. Gibbs also had two hits and one RBI in the Gorloks 5-1 win over Eureka.
Congratulations to Trisha and Taylor on receiving the Player of the Week award!
