Webster University Athletics reached an all-time high as six athletes from four different sports were selected as St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Players of the Week for April 2-8. David Mueller and Tom Henke (baseball), Tanner Rabb (golf), Taylor Gibbs (softball), and Allison Tungate and Josh Sellmeyer (tennis) were selected for their respective sports. Gibbs was chosen for the second straight week.
Mueller, a senior from Westminster Christian Academy, has been named the Diamond Sports Baseball Pitcher of the Week. This marks the third time in his career at Webster he has been so honored.
Mueller, a 6-3 right-handed pitcher, threw a two-hit, complete game shutout against Blackburn College last week. He recorded a career-high 12 strikeouts and allowed no walks as the Gorloks won 10-0 in their first game of a three-game sweep over the Beavers. In his last 17 innings, he has allowed no runs, five hits and one walk, and struck out 24 as his earned run average has dropped to a microscopic 0.96.
Henke, a senior from Lindbergh HS, has been named the Diamond Sports Baseball Hitter of the Week. This is the second time Henke has been named, also receiving a nod in 2011.
Henke, a first baseman, hit .563 in four games played last week. He had nine hits, including four doubles and one home run, along with seven RBI. Henke went 2-for-4 with one double, one RBI and two RBI in a 10-0 victory versus Blackburn College. After shooting a 72 in the first round of Webster's Gorlok Invitational, Rabb finished with a 156 to place 29th out of 88 competitors. The Gorloks finished 8th out of 23 teams at Illinois Wesleyan and placed sixth overall at the Gorlok Invitational.

Her best outing was in a 14-5 win at Blackburn College as she had two hits, two runs and four RBIs. Gibbs had a three-run homer in the contest. Gibbs then added a solo home run in a 2-1 loss to Greenville, and doubled in a run as the Gorloks defeated Greenville 6-0, to split the double header.
Sellmeyer, a junior from Mehlville HS, has been named the Men's Tennis Player of the Week. Sellmeyer won his 10th straight singles and doubles matches of the year, and is currently undefeated at 10-0 in both. In Webster's 8-1 victory over Greenville College, he won 6-0, 6-3 at #3 singles and paired with Dustin Thode (JR, Crystal City HS, MO) for an 8-6 win at #3 doubles.
Tungate, from Flora HS (IL), has been named the Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of April 2-8. This is the second time she has been named, the first in 2010.
Tungate shutout her competition at #2 Singles last week, winning both of her matches 6-0, 6-0 against Blackburn College and Greenville College. She also posted a 9-8 (7-1) victory at #1doubles versus Greenville along with teammate and sister, Paige Tungate.
