The Gorloks will enter the season with a balance of experienced veterans and talented newcomers. A determined and focused squad looks forward to the challenge of getting back to the NCAAs in 2009.
Leading the way up top will be juniors
Christy Capkovic, 1st team All-Conference and
Megan Niederschulte, 2nd team All-Conference. Both will provide the leadership and skills necessary for the team to succeed offensively. Junior forward
Kelsey McClure returns to the team after missing the 2008 season and will enhance our offensive attack. Freshmen
Kathleen Berhorst’s toughness and excellent work ethic will also add to the forward position. All four are gifted finishers whose skills and aggressive play will be counted on to solidify the attack.
A balanced mixture of returners and newcomers will lead the Gorlok midfield in 2009. A veteran trio of seniors will provide the leadership, 2nd team All-Conference selection
Jenna Steiner,
Mallory Morris and
Dana Vahey. Also contributing will be sophomores
Candice Evans,
Jordan Geller,
Morgan Milfeld and
Amanda Zeier, whose well-rounded skills will make them valuable to our attack from the midfield. Junior
Kelsey Hunk, a community college transfer, is a playmaker who will be tough to beat in the midfield. Sophomore
Lindsey Owens and freshman
Toni Turigiatto will be counted on to bring creativity and solid positional play to round out the midfield.
The Gorlok defense will need to be steady and consistent. Heading up the defense will be seniors
Kristin Garlich (2nd team All-Conference), and
Jessica Schellerup. Garlich’s leadership and steady influence will be a key to the team’s defensive success. Schellerup’s strong distribution skills and composure will be essential to the team’s ability to transition from the back. Sophomore
Izzy Sherfy will provide stability and toughness in the backfield. Junior
Catrina Salama is a fiery competitor who will be counted on to contribute. Freshmen
Emily Anderson and
Caroline Schmidt bring a physical presence to the backfield and will be expected to play key roles in our success this year.
Webster has sophomore
Brittany Senator and freshman
Shelby Wade defending the goal in 2009. Both bring a wealth of experience and a relentless work ethic to the goalkeeper position.
