Caroline Schmidt, a freshman from St. Louis, Mo. (Oakville), has been named the SLIAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week of October 26-November 1.
Schmidt, a 5-6 defender, played in all 270 minutes last week for the Gorloks. She helped her squad to three shutouts, including 5-0 victories versus both Westminster College and Eureka College, and a 9-0 victory versus MacMurray College.
"Caroline's responsibilities have changed since an injury to our starting sweeper in early October," said head coach Luigi Scire. "She was asked to take on a major role in anchoring our defense and has done an excellent job of controlling the defensive unit."
