The Webster University 2009 women's softball team has been recognized as a "Girls Got Game" All-Academic Team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association(NFCA). The Gorloks ranked 11th in NCAA Division III with a 3.38 team grade point average (GPA) for 2008-09. The award is based on GPA's for the 2008-2009 academic school year.
Eight members of the Webster softball team received certificates of recognition from the NFCA for maintaining a 3.5 or higher GPA for the same period. Those players were: Erynn Coit (SO, Forsyth Central HS, IL), Samantha Dittmann (JR, St. Pius X HS, STL), Lexie Moore (JR, Champaign Central HS, IL), Lindsay McDonald (FR, Dupo HS, IL), Allie Park (Charles Henderson HS, AL), Gina Trapani (SR, Herrin HS, IL), Dana Vahey (SR, Hazelwood West, STL), and Kelsey Washam (SR, Lincoln HS, IL).
The NFCA honors both high school and collegiate programs for their success in the classroom. The women's softball team follows the women's volleyball, and men's and women's soccer teams, as being recogized by national organizations for their academic prowess in 2008-09.
