The Webster University women’s basketball team kept a grip on first-place in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with a 74-46 win over Greenville College (IL) at Grant Gymnasium on February 3.   Webster remains tied for first with a 9-2 record in the SLIAC and are 14-6 overall.  The 14 wins are the most for a Gorlok squad since 2005-06.

The Gorloks took a 36-15 halftime lead with the help of a 22-6 run to end the half.  The stretch featured three three-pointers by Blair Underwood (SO, Webster Groves HS, STL), who had 12 points for the half, and two by Katy Meyer (JR, Parkway Central HS, STL).  A flurry of steals and three-pointers by the Gorloks in the second half sealed the outcome of the game.

Webster was led by Underwood’s 15 points, including five for seven shooting from the three-point arc.  Ayrica Lockett (SO, Crossroads Prep, STL) had nine points and a game-high 12 rebounds.  Barissa Ford (JR, Clayton HS, STL) added 13 points and five steals.  Meyer finished with 10 points and six rebounds.

The Gorloks head to Eureka College (IL) on February 6, and then to Westminster College on February 10, before returning home on February 16 to face Principia College (IL).
