The women's softball team swept a double-header over the University of St. Mary (KS), 5-0 and 9-1, on March 17 at Blackburn Park.  Megan Sperry (SR, Clarkston HS, MI) once again used her pitching arm and bat to help propel the Gorloks in the win in the opener.  Meghan Lokey (SO, Hazelwest HS, STL) was the hitting star in the nightcap, as freshman Ashley Meagher (Dupo HS, IL) picked up the win on the mound.

Sperry pitched a complete game shutout in the opener, allowing three hits and two walks, and improved her record to 3-1 on the season.  At the plate, Sperry went three for three with a run scored, and with more hits in the nightcap, raised her season average to .467.

Threes were wild for Lokey in the 9-1 win, going three for three, scoring three runs and driving in three for the game.  Meagher ran her record to 2-1 on the year by scattering six hits over five innings, and striking out eight.  The game was shortened to five innings because of an eight-run "mercy rule."

The Gorloks evened their season record at 5-5 with the two wins.  Webster hosts Central Baptist College (AR) on March 19 to open the Webster Classic.  Coe College (IA) and Carthage College (IL) will be participating in the round-robin as well.  Webster faces Carthage and Coe on March 21.  All games will be played at Blackburn Park.
