Greeted by a beautiful day, participants in the 2012 Gorlok Open had an afternoon of sun and fun at Sunset Country Club on May 21. Unlike the typhoon-like storm that golfers had to dodge at the 2011 Open, sun and temperatures in the low 70s ruled the day.
After the golfers completed their 18 holes, they lounged on the Sunset patio, enjoying an array of appetizers, cheeses, prime-rib, and various deserts. And, of course, their favorite beverage. The 18th annual outing, sponsored by the Paric Corporation, once again was a big success. The golfers had a great time and, financially, the day was a great benefit to the Athletic Department.
A special appearance by Head Coach Bill Kurich and several members of the Webster University baseball team, who will be playing in the NCAA III World Series this weekend, was met by a round of applause by the participants. Winners on the day included:
A-Flight
1st Place - Spellman-Brady
2nd Place - Paric
B-Flight
1st Place - Higher One
2nd Place - Sodexo
Contest Holes
Closest to the hole Neil George
Vickie Frederick
Longest Drive Jason Crecelius
Jennifer Tichacek
The Gorlok Open is the largest single fundraiser of the year for Webster University Athletics and the proceeds directly benefit the department, its programs, and its facilities.
Emcee Tom Hart ended the day with a special thanks to all sponsors and participants, to those who helped plan and run the Open, and to the Sunset Country Club staff. The Department hopes to see everyone back at the 2012 Gorlok Open!
