09.08 | Women's Soccer
The Webster University women’s soccer team found its scoring touch in Jacksonville, IL, beating Illinois College, 8-0, on September 8. Six different Gorloks were in the scoring column with Christy Capkovic (SR, Mehlville HS, STL), the NCAA in scoring leader in 2009, and freshman Jordan Fosburgh (Collinsville HS, STL) the only two- goal scorers. Webster evened its record at 1-1 on the season.

The Webster University women's soccer team lost its home opener, 1-0, to Dominican University on September 4, at the Soccer Park. Tthe Stars broke the deadlock with a goal at the 86:00 mark to take the victory.
Webster University women's soccer heads into the 2010 season with a balance of experienced returnees and a talented group of newcomers. A determined and focused team looks forward to the challenges of winning the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and returning to the NCAA III Championships.

Webster University women's soccer player, Maria Arias, has been selected for the roster of the Costa Rica U-20 National Team.  The team will be competing in the FIFA 2010 U-20 Women's World Cup, from July 13 through August 1, in Germany.

Luigi Scire, Webster University women's soccer head coach, is now "officially" among the coaches with the highest win percentage on the NCAA all-time list.  Scire has posted a career 173-44-10 record, good for a .784 win percentage and 15th place in all NCAA Divisions in women's soccer.

Webster University women's soccer goalkeeper, Maria Arias, is currently with the Costa Rica U-20 National Team, hoping to compete in the 2010 U-20 World Cup.  Arias, a sophomore from San Jose, Costa Rica, was 2-0 in eight games, with two shutouts and a 1.14 goals against average, for her freshman season at Webster.
