Mike Stawski, Assistant Head Baseball Coach at Webster for the past three seasons, has been named the Head Baseball Coach at Spalding University in Louisville, Kentucky. Stawski served as pitching coach those three seasons for a Gorlok squad that compiled a 60-6 record in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC), winning three league titles, and 90-44 overall. Stawski will be charged with turning around a Spalding baseball squad that posted an 11-29 record this past season. Ironically, Spalding University will become the newest member of the SLIAC starting with the 2009-2010 academic year. The SLIAC is composed of nine colleges in Missouri, Illinois, and Kentucky.
Webster University Head Coach Bill Kurich on Mike Stawski: "Coach Stawski did a tremendous job with our pitching staff the past three years. His knowledge and guidance propelled the Webster pitching staff to the top of the SLIAC in nearly every statistical category. I wish him the best of luck and look forward to coaching against him for years to come. Spalding got a good one in Mike."
